Here's a tip I got the one time I went to a trade show seminar: Put your tables at the back of your booth or along the sides - don't place them across the front and have people sit behind them. You want to have your booth open so you can pull people into it rather than have them stuck out in the aisle. Give it a try this weekend, or maybe next year and see how it goes.

Here's the other tip. After many, many years of research and development, the presenter had developed an extraordinary ice-breaker to use on visitors: "What brings you to the show today?" Amazing, I know!

Okay, that's literally everything I learned that day, so now you're on your own. Have fun!

Well, personally, as a MiceChatter, I wouldn't not visit the MiceChat booth and meet my friends in real life just because the booth was laid out a certain way.

I think it's a biennial convention which means the next one won't be till 2013. Unless attendance is high enough at this convention to change the suits' minds.

Oh, I'm sure! The idea is to use the floorspace inside the booth to give people a place to talk. If you barricade yourself behind the tables the visitors have to stand in the aisle which means while you talk with one person other people just walk right by because they can't get near the booth.
