Steven Clark, the head of D23, said major venues will have more seats and spillover viewing areas next year. The arena holds 4,000 people; the convention also will set up a 2,000-person overflow theater. The second-largest venue will increase from 750 to 2,000 seats.
Disney, for the first time, will hand out wristbands to guarantee spots in major presentations. "That way, we won't have to have everyone spending the entire expo experience in a queue," Clark said.
D23 is offering about 200 exclusive packages, at $1,500 apiece, that will include a massage, a lounge with refreshments and access to exclusive previews and sales. Last year, similar packages were $1,000 each and sold out quickly. "It's very much in line with VIP packages at other types of fan events," Clark said.
