Usually lists like this don't interest me because they are mostly crap. And this list has all the markings of it being mostly crap. But ... seeing as I own 22 of the 100 albums on this list, I can't really say it's FULLY crap.

Can't argue with #1 at all. Not my personal favorite Radiohead album, but I'm not going to argue with it since my personal favorite came out in the 90's.

Another shout out to LCD Soundsystem at #12. MUCH deserved, although I thought their debut album was better.

I own 28 of those albums but did not count albums where I only have 1 or 2 tracks from.

IMO, The Arcade Fire's "Funeral" should be #3 and Sufjan Stevens' "Illinois" should be #2.

When Kanye West outranks Johnny Cash.....something is seriously wrong.

Why? Kanye West's The College Dropout was a genuinely impressive debut album, with excellent writing and superb production values.

Plus, plenty of other artists "outranked" Johnny Cash's album. These aren't rankings of personal behavior, they're rankings of albums. If you look closely, though, you'll see that Lil' Wayne, Amy Winehouse, 50 Cent, Green Day, and Justin Timberlake also "outranked" Johnny Cash, but then, Johnny Cash also "outranked" Kanye West (Cash's album American III: Solitary Man is #62, while West's 808s and Heartbreak is #63).

These are the tally of the opinions of people from inside the industry. I don't see why their opinions wouldn't be valid and worthy of consideration. These lists can be helpful when exploring new music.

A note about opinions: there's no such thing as a "wrong" opinion. Everyone has an opinion, period. If someone wants to list their Top 100, who is anyone to tell them that their choices are "wrong"?

Besides, albums are collaborative works and reflect their producers as much as they do their artists. This is not "my dad can beat up your dad" territory. These are lists of critical opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

Personally, I don't find anything appealing in Kanye, Amy Winehouse, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne or Green day. I think their "music" is mediocre at best. I would rather listen to nails on a chaulkboard than 90% of the music listed on there. Cause, to my ears...it's not really music. It's a sad imitation with bass beats, catchy lyrics and rhyming words.

Dang I forgot about that Hives album. I actually have it... forgot how good it is. Have to dig it out to put on the iPod.

The Strokes in the top 10? Really? I was bored with them within 6 months.

Thank God the White Stripes made the top 5. Elephant is one of the best albums ever recorded.

Owning a few of those albums, I'm stuck in the 70's, although I do admit two of Eminems albums (even though I have heard Eminem Show). American Idiot was pretty good, as was U2. As for thier positions- it seems reasonable.

Everyone has their own taste in music.

Personally, none of the people listed flatter me. That's not to say they're bad artists, we just all are very different people with very different tastes.

No need to go bashing other music.
