    What's up with 2011 and death? Spider-Man dies for the 21st time, lol. Marvel Comics has unveiled a the cover for Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #157. Drawn by Hulk illustrator Ed McGuinness, the publisher is teasing the artwork to promote the 'Death of Spider-Man' event.

    The forthcoming plotline sees the demise of the Ultimate Universe incarnation of the superhero. It will play out across issues of Ultimate Comics Spider-Man and Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates.

    Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #157 is written by Brian Michael Bendis with artwork from Mark Bagley. It will ship later this month.

    Core Titles When Spider-Man Has Died
    Spider-Man #17 Death at the Hands of Thanos. You will believe a man CAN die!

    Peter Parker (Vol. 1) #71 Return of The Powers storyline. Peter Parker is taken to hospital, perhaps with Clone Degeneration Syndrome. He flatlines, but then gets better, and his powers return.

    Peter Parker (Vol. 1) #75 Spidey II (Ben Reilly) was killed by Norman Osborn, and stayed dead.

    Amazing Spider-Man #398 Web of Death storyline. Spidey was killed by the Owl with a poison. He flatlined, then got better - thanks to Doctor Octopus (who also died and then got better).

    Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #3 The Other. Defeated by Morlun and taken to hospital. Uses the last of his strength to kill Morlun in order to save Mary Jane. Dies. Wakes up later feeling much better.

    Guest Appearances When Spider-Man Has Died
    X-Men #191 Crucified by Kulan Gath. Dr. Strange and Illyana combine powers to turn back time.
    Secret Wars (Vol. 1) #11 Dr. Doom kills everybody! But Doom is then tricked into bringing them back to life.

    Infinity Gauntlet #4 Spidey was killed by Terraxia, but he got better.

    Alternate Universes When Spider-Man Has Died
    What If? (Vol. 1) #27 "What if Phoenix had Lived?" The entire universe is destoyed. Spider-Man doesn't make an appearance.

    What If? (Vol. 1) #32 "What if the Avengers had Become Pawns of Korvac?" The entire universe is destoyed. Spider-Man doesn't make an appearance.

    What If? (Vol. 2) #4 "What if the Alien Costume had Possessed Spider-Man?" The symbiote leaves Peter Parker prematurly-aged 50 years, and he dies of old age a few days later.

    What If? (Vol. 2) #6 "What if the X-Men Lost Inferno?" A demon-possessed Wolverine skewers Spider-Man.

    What If? (Vol. 2) #16 "What if Wolverine Battled Conan?" The entire universe is destroyed. Spider-Man doesn't make an appearance.

    What If? (Vol. 2) #17 "What if Kraven the Hunter had Killed Spider-Man?" Kraven shoots Spider-Man with a rifle.

    What If? (Vol. 2) #25 "What if the Marvel Super-Heroes had lost Atlantis Attacks?" The Hulk slams a Set-possessed Spider-Man into the street.

    What If? (Vol. 2) #26 "What if the Punisher had Killed Daredevil?" The Puisher shoots Spider-Man.

    What If? (Vol. 2) #55 "What if the Avengers lost Operation Galactic Storm?" The Kree destroy Earth using the Omni-Wave Annihilator. Spider-Man cameo.

    What If? (Vol. 2) #58 "What if the Punisher had Killed Spider-Man?" The Punisher blows up Spider-Man with a bomb.

    What If? (Vol. 2) #86 "What if the Scarlet Spider had Killed Spider-Man?" Ben Reilly is forced to kill Peter to keep him from carrying out his programming of killing Mary Jane.

    Deaths Head II (LS) #4 Peter (alternate universe) wearing the black costume, sporting a ponytail and firing guns! Fighting a demon horde, is killed by Charnel, a major demon of some kind.
    The Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe In this Garth Ennis prestiege format one-shot, Frank kills pretty much everybody, including Spidey.

    Mys-Tek Wars #2 Alternate Universe Spidey killed during demonic invasion in rather graphic detail. History is eventually reversed.

      A near-mint copy of a 1962 'Amazing Fantasy' # 15 (Spider-Man's debut) was recently sold for $1.1 million by a private seller to a private buyer.
