Re: RIP Davy Jones of The Monkees

    He was 66 actually.

The Monkees were my first concert. I saw them on their 20th anniversary tour in 1986. I got hooked on the show that summer when Mtv and Nickelodeon aired reruns. A year or 2 later I got to meet Micky Dolenz as he was doing a meet & greet at the local auto show and they had the Monkeemobile there too. Sadly I lost the photos I took of Micky and his autograph and my photos with the Monkeemobile. I am still mad about that.

I'm also kicking myself now that I didn't see The Monkees on their anniversary tour when they came here last summer. That show ended up selling out too. I guess I was just disappointed Nez once again decided not to participate (even though he did in 1996 for the 30th anniversary).

But back to Davy. He was the perfect pop star, really. You could tell he loved what he did.

And Axl rose has him to thank for his "signature dance".

    Davy, you'll be missed.
