  • Imagine... John Lennon at 67

Today would have been John Lennon's 67th birthday. One of my favorite songs:

    Imagine there's no Heaven
    It's easy if you try
    No hell below us
    Above us only sky
    Imagine all the people
    Living for today

    Imagine there's no countries
    It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
    Imagine all the people
    Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

    Imagine no possessions
    I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
    A brotherhood of man
    Imagine all the people
    Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

He was the inspiration and is named, as I recall, in Lennon's song "Beautiful Boy".

I loved the movie Mr. Holland's Opus, and I cry when Mr. Holland (Richard Dreyfuss) sings the song to his deaf son.

One of the cable channels yesterday ran a special about the staging of that apparently great show now running in Vegas involvlng Cirque de Soleil. and I just finished watching a special on LINK-tv about John And Yoko Ono's "bed-in" in 1969 that led to the creation of the "give peace a chance" song.

John Lennon lives on in the hearts of millions of us. I still can't warm up to Yoko for some reason (never have been able to) but kudos for her efforts.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

"Double Fantasy" was a wonderful album (yes, album), but we always skipped over the Yoko songs.
