  • The New Music Review Thread

IMO, this has been a pretty good year for music. I thought we should have a thread to talk about some of our favorite albums of 2008 and what were looking forward to for the rest of the year.

    Weezer - Red Album
My favorite album of 2008 (so far). It's so incredibly good. Weezer can be hit and miss with their albums, but this one is a definite HIT.

Nine Inch Nails - The Slip
Sure it was free, but that doesn't mean it's not good. Not their best album ever, but a middle of the road NIN album is better than most other stuff out there.

Neil Diamond - Home Before Dark
It's so good. Probably would be my favorite of 2008 if it weren't for Weezer. Even if your not a fan of "The Neil" this one is worth checking out.

    R.E.M. - Accelerate
Definitely their best album in a few years. The energy of Automatic for the People or Monster is there and it's great to hear.

    B52's - Funplex
Fun is in the title, and it sure is fun. I love this album. Hard to listen to this in the car because I want to get up and dance.

Jack Johnson - Sleep Through the Static
Great songwriting, great mellow record to just chill out and listen to.

    Kings X - XV
Their best album in the last few. After 20 years, they still rock. Hoping to be able to catch them live this year.

Future releases I'm looking forward to:
    Aerosmith - Untitled (release TBD)
    Fugees - Untitled (release TBD)
    Peter Gabriel - I/O (2009)
    No Doubt - Untitled (2009)
    U2 - Untitled (release TBD)

Nothing really stops my heart at all, just yet this year. The Haunted are supposed to release a new album in September so I'm really looking forward to that.

By the way, I DL'd The Slip but it wont let me play any of the mp3's

^ Which version did you download??? There are multiple versions, you need to make sure you got the MP3 versions if you don't have the software to decode the other versions.

I'm pretty sure it was the top one on the list.

What happens when you try and play them?
