  • Toy Story Mania to be released on Wii

Disney Interactive Studios Announces Toy Story Mania!, Inspired by the Disney/Pixar Feature Film “Toy Story,” Exclusively for Wii™

Looks like they're bringing the attraction to the Wii console as extra promotion for Toy Story 3 being released in theaters this fall.

While kind've neat, and while not the same as riding it at the park, it does seem to further blur the line between being able to experience something special in the parks that you can't experience outside of them. But the ability to do something like this doesn't really exist for other types of attractions, only in this special case since the target audience of the attraction is essentially the Wii crowd and the format is similar.

Interesting. Hope it's not just 5 minutes worth of games.

From reading the article, it looks like there will be more galleries than those found in the ride, as well as a new set of minigames.

this is not a good idea for parks and resorts. Especially if people play the game at home and start to wonder why a certain gallery isnt playable.

I think it's a great idea. I'm sure people won't go to the park expecting the attraction to have the same galleries. There will be a definite distinction between playing the game at home and riding the attraction, I think. People may check their brains at the front gates, but I'd like to think people might be smart enough not to expect the ride to be exactly the same as the home version.

Creating a Wii version of the attraction's games is great though, since the animation is done already for most of them, and could be incorporated into the game so it feels authentic. I know I'm interested in this game.

Oh, and Toy Story 3 doesn't come out until 2010, not this fall. Oh, but I do see they are re-releasing the original film in "Disney Digital 3D" this fall, so there is that!

I think it would be cool to play. I think it would be great for people who can't get to the parks have the experience of the rides, just in a different way. I agree that it would not work with all rides.

I wonder why Disney didn't do this with Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.

No one is hardly playing the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster game online anymore.
I haven't gotten any points because someone played online.

Awesome! I knew they would do something like this for the Wii. I think it would be cool if some of the bonus levels featured stuff from the park.

does anyone know if they are going to provide a spring loader for the Wii? I also had some thought on how it would work. I am thinking of writing letters to the publishers and developers of the game to seriously think about it. It would also be a awesome promotion to the ride itself. People will want to come to the parks to ride this great ride even more.
