  • Super Mario Galaxy 2

This comes out May 23rd. Anyone else buying this for their kids or for yourself? Also here is the most recent trailer for the game as well. They have added some new costumes for Mario that can transform him into new things.

I thought the first Super Mario Galaxy was hard. But this looks even harder. We'll end up getting this because it's Mario.

      Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2

I have been playing the Super Mario Series since Super Mario 64 came out on the Nintendo 64 and I will be picking up this game as well. The original SMG was epic, and this should be no exception.

btw, there is gonna be no hub (i.e. the Rosalina's ship) Instead it will be more like the level selects of old mario games and the New Super Mario Bros. with a weird plot of land that acts as a spaceship.

I've been playing Mario since the old NES days. I remember the first time seeing Mario in 3-D at Blockbuster and it was a total "Awwww" moment. Seeing a game where I could walk and turn where I wanted was amazing. This game led the way to how games are made today.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Introduces 'Cloud' Power-Up

Cloud Mario! I know what you're thinking, that this new power-up will give Mario White hair and a giant Unicorn. No instead, the Cloud power-up from Super Mario Galaxy 2 appears to give Mario the magical ability to walk on clouds. Judging by this image from the Official Nintendo Magazine, these clouds are ECSTATIC to be stepped on.

It's clear that Mario's return trip to the stars will have no shortage of new gimmicks. In addition to floating in the sky, it seems Mario can also turn into a boulder, ride dinosaurs, and drill through planets. The one thing he obviously can't do, his plumbing job. What happened Mario a leaky pipe got the best of you one day and you gave it all up?

                  Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2

I've played through the first few levels.

This one wisely jettisons the hub setup of the first game, and lets you choose levels from a simple map interface.

No wasting time with any story either. Bowser has kidnapped the princess again (shocking, I know), and that's all we need. Like other great Mario games, it's all about the gameplay.

Galaxy 2 is more of the same, but at the same time it feels very fresh. New power-ups, Yoshi, and other factors mean this isn't just an extension of the first game.

I've barely begun to play, but it's quite obvious this is an addictive & instant masterpiece. If you have any interest in video games, picking up this one is a no-brainer.
