    Re: Book Chat

Time for this thread to rise from the grave on my 2,000th post -fanfare trumpets play- !!!
What is everyone currently reading? I need to order some books that are both a part of two different series I read.

If you just read the book steadily it will only take about two weeks; I know that is a little long, but keep in mind the book is longer than most as well.

No one ever reads Great Expectations, unless they read a lot or were forced to; it is a fantastic novel, but so many people think it is too long for some reason.

    My first question:

Who has any comments on how Dickens uses bad weather to signify how an important event is about to occur? Remember that you can also use textual evidence from other books, and you may point how other authors use it as well.

    Re: Book Chat

I have decided to hold a book discussion every week on Thursday.
    Rules:
-May last as long as possible, but cannot go past that day.
-Mainly, the posts must be related to that week's discussion novel on that Thursday.
-Keep it the posts clean, open-minded if possible, and fair.
-Try to keep the discussion in a socratic seminar format, but it does not have to be.

The discussion starts now; the novel to be discussed this Thursday is: Great Expectations By: Charles Dickens.

I strongly recommend Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen! I really enjoyed the book and well, it is very interesting. It is kind of a comedy but more of a bit of teen romance. Each chapter is kept in kind of a diary kind of thing but in the boy's and the girl's mind. I don't want to give away the book so, go check it out!

I request of my micechatting friends to keep this thread going while I am off Micechat for some time. I will not be posting as much as I previously did, until around Christmas time.

I still haven't ordered that book or the recent Clique Series book; I've been busy with school and my other novels. I just loved Great Expectations, and then I saw the movie, which was shallow and barely like the novel itself.

Also, I am thinking of having this moved to the Library section in the Teens forum.
    :yea: She's back! :yea:

Now on topic, I hated the end of the 13th book. I expected much more information...nothing was answered in this book. =(

Has any here read Great Expectations By: Charles Dickens? I loved it! Many people think it is extremely long, but it wasn't that bad. Only when you look at the number of chapters, fifty-nine, it seems long. Otherwise, it isn't that long at all.
