2 new halo games on the way! (in addition to Halo 3)

So it was announced a few days ago that not only is Peter Jackson going to produce and direct an all new game based in the Halo universe (they have said its been in production for a year), but they also announced the guys who made Age of Empires are putting their efforts into a new RTS exclusively for the xbox 360 called Halo Wars, to be set at a time before the original Halo. They have the game website up now (sorry cant remember what it is, just google it), which also has an AWSOME looking trailer for the game. And yes, there will be MULTIPLE SPARTANS!!!! NOT JUST MASTER CHIEF!!!! All i can say is: sweet!! i cant wait for these two games to come out. these two games plus halo 3 will definitely make me have to buy a 360 lol

I hate to say it, but this is a smart way to milk the name. Halo 3 should be the last of the series, but if they can keep the name alive with spin-offs, we may have another "Mario" that spans every genre for years to come.

Okay, so it'll never get that extreme... but still, an RTS? It's a departure, that's for sure.

ur right now that i think about it, we just might have a mario on our hands.... true its a mario with an assault rifle, shotgun, and plasma grenades, but a mario none the less


when you hear mario you think nintendo and vice-versa

what do you think of when you hear xbox? master chief and halo.
what do you think of when you hear halo? xbox.

it has truely become the face of the gaming platform, so why couldnt it become the next generation's mario?

Halo=Gun game not a RPG game. Look at Zelda, Mario and Final fantasy they have not tried to change what types of games they are
Zelda is a strategy/puzzle game
Mario is a puzzle/action game
FF is a RPG

I think this is just a stupid way of using Halo's name...Im not getting the RPG halo but if the other games a Gun Game then I'll get it becuase thats Halo. Its a gun Game no RPG elements AT ALL!

It also said one of these games was too much like Halo 3 their newest project and it might not see the light of day since it is considered too much of a clone. A Halo RTS is a bad idea if you ask me but than again I like Unreal Tournament over Halo much better, Halo is too slow paced is all.

first of all to those thinking i said RPG, please not that it will be an RTS game, that is, real time strategy, in the mold of age of empires


and for any of you who have seen the trailer for the halo RTS, it looks incredible, im definitely gonna be giving it a try

Personally I don't see many Halo fans jumping on an RTS. I know a lot of Halo fans, and none of those cats like RTS games.

BTW I looked it up you must of gotten confused. There is no second game there is only the halo RTS and Halo 3. Unless off course you mean Halo 2 which has still yet to come out for the PC?

^ i read on yahoo that they announced that Peter Jackson has been in the process of directing/producing a game for the past year thats based in the Halo universe, so not necessarily a halo 4, but maybe something on the covenant or flood or something, the details were pretty vague

I'm not sure if Halo will be as versitile at different genres as Nintendos Mario has been

I mean hasn't Microsoft already thrown Master Cheif into a fighting game?

a strategy game could actualy work though so I shouldn't be too annoyed really since I can see the setup working I'm just wondering how much more Microsoft plans to use the series since if I recall right Bungee likes to only do trilogy's to games

I dunno I always thought Master Chief was left pretty vague as a character since he is supposed to embody you or at least thats what I thought

oh well Microsoft knows what it's doing I suppose

it seems like they're working hard to get franchises out that they can be known for the same way Nintendo is known for it's franchises

heck they've got Rare bringing back Banjo

sorry but i have to revive this string. cause i saw the trailer for halo wars. OMFG!!! i so cant wait. that is game is gonna be good. they made so it was before the first halo. and so there are spartans GALORE. i say again OMFG.

i think halo is a game that can easily convert over to rts becuase it is a war game in the first place. tanks airships, light duty vehicles. i think it will do well. and not just because it carries the halo name.

Hey ss, no halo has always been an fps. i have followed this game for years. halo originally was going to be a pc fps. but during its development. microsoft bought bungie studios, and made halo xbox only. let me tell ya the day i found out i was so pissed. i had been waiting for years on that game and then they did that to me. and at the time i had no interest in xbox what so ever. man has times changed.

And on a second note for those hearing things on peter jackson's halo project. i can officially say that it is going to be a movie. not a video game.

Incorrect, "Bungie Studios later stated an even earlier development build of the game(Halo) centered on real-time strategy and was "basically Myth in a sci-fi universe."

It was also a 3rd person shooter at one time as well.

What's worse is that Microsoft sent a cease and desist letter to a group of mod makers that were doing a Halo based RTS for the PC using the C&C Generals game to mod. Years of work down the drain because Microsoft wants to put out a Halo RTS on another platform entirely. They certainly had a right to shut it down, but I don't think they were hurting anyone nor that a PC mod would hurt a 360 RTS games sales.

Honestly as a FPS player on the computer for years I didn't think Halo was all that and a bag of chips when it came out. I thought it was a good solid game that was well polished, but I didn't think it was the best FPS ever or anything like that. I was far more blown away now by Gears of War than I was when I first played Halo.
