Pirates Game Tips, Anyone?

I am sick of sinking every time I play pirates. I want to like this game but I seriously suck. Is there any advice that you people's can give? Any tips on how you are so good? Any help is greatly appreciated.

One thing that always helps me is if I KNOW I am playing with an older player. I mean that in the sense of, they have inferno, 5 star teleportation, good pins and such, or old/reitred costumes. That always helps . But if you aren't lucky another thing that helps me it to know that the other team is going after the gold cannonballs. So I follow them, then nail them when they get them. So basically their trip was pointless. And the last important thing is PRACTICE. You will get better. Believe me. When I started Fireworks, I got like 20,000 points. Then I practiced, and now can easily get the recommended daily value of vitamins and minerals. So just practice, and eventually you will get better.

Like what rocking said. If you are playing against some newbies, just go for it and kick thier newbie butts!! However if you are playing Baby, a CL, and some sparrow dude, like I was today, give up hopelessly. There is no use of even putting forth an effort :lol:

Ok, anyways, let me give some good tips.

At capture the flag, it is good to know what you are going to be. If you are going to be a guard, get the wicked witch. If you are going for the flag, get the, er, faster ship, the one on the far left. Which brings me to an important point. Know your ships. The, er, one on the far left is good for speed. The 1 in the middle is good for health, and the 1 on the far right is god for battle. Now back to capture the flag..

If you are going to get the flag, start clicking as soon as you can. Don't stop for 5 seconds to say gl. Those 5 seconds could cost you the round. Once you get the flag, go as fast as you can to your base. Don't stop to kill someone, go! Oh, and always be aware of whether or not you still have the flag. Sometimes you drop it without your knoledge. That is bad.

Also, know how you win Flag. It is who has their flag closest to base. REMEMBER THIS. Why? Let's say, you are guarding your flag, and all your teammates are dead, BUT they managed to move their flag, even the tiniest bit. All of the other team is coming at you. What do you do? Let them kill you. Your team will be dead, but you will win, because your flag is closest. This is very important. KNOW this rule. STUDY this rule. LIVE by this rule. BREATH this rule. WORSHIP this rule. Got it? Good.

Now ship battle, um, just click, click, click!!! And pray that you hit someone!!! Yes, best tip eva! :yea:

I do OK, the best advice I can give is rember that there is a delay between when you press the key and you shoot. A short delay, but its there. And, you ropponent is moving (or should be). Shooting from afar and while turning tends to spread your shot pattern. You get less total hits, but more a chance of getting A hit.l Don't engage at close quarters either, try to stay away a bit. It makes it easier to dogde. It also seems to pause for a tick if your ship stops. So no short clicks, only long range - you can allways adjust course if necessary.

I have no clue. I just play each game like it's the original Pirates game and hope for the best, even Capture the Flag! :lol: But today I not only picked up my very first flag, but I also brought my first flag home! And Moon, you were rocking it! :cwink:

I think Black Pearl is best ship to use if that helps . Because it is faster you can get items and flags and dodge cannons better.

I've gotten pretty good at pirates so check out some of my tips, may help, and may not =]

SHIP BATTLE

Selecting ship: When selecting ship, look at the other ships being used, if everyone has the Wicked Winch then you'd pick the Flying Dutchman, but if everybody had the Black Pearl it's best to pick between Wicked Winch, or Flying Dutchman to help destroy them taking their health away faster although watch their shooting since they are faster

Shooting: Use the arrows, left and right too shoot, avoid shooting when not needed to save ammo, shooting from behind or in front move right after shooting to avoid being gotten back. Also moving while shooting can be helpful if you've gotten good at normal shooting

Staying Alive: If you've been shot and only have 3-1 health boxes left then search close by you for health floating, if somebody is racing you too it and their ship is fast (Black Pearl) then just position yourself to get them while they are going for it to make them lose life quicker maybe killing them before they reaching it leaving it to you and anybody alive (unless they round/game is over of course).

Sportsmanship: During the count down it's very kind to say good luck or gl for short. At the end of the round it's good to say good game or gg for short, or even good round. While the game is going avoid typing it looses your concentration, but if you have died encourage them that they can do it, don't talk on and on because that too causes a distraction. Don't punish your team or the other for bad sportsmanship or for winning, just encourage them they'll do better next time. Don't blame people/or computer for loses or dieing because there's no point.


These are some main learning skills to help ANYBODY get good at pirates, they've helped me tones =]

Using the arrow keys is "key" lol, as skate said. Until I realized I could use those I was not very good at all. One push of the left or right key lines up your shot for you another click and boom.

I also found let the other side chase you, as soon as I start chasing I'm sunk. This way you can move and shoot at them and get out of the way of their shot.

Try to keep an eye on your ammo and health stores and the other players in the game, if you see a ship take a bunch of hits you know one or two more is going to sink them if you get to them before they get health (or you can block their way to getting some, or take it yourself )

Since the recent changes to VMK I find two on two is better, any more than that and the game and your movement is choppy, if someone has a better computer than chances are they will beat you as they seem to not have the same lag.

Myself I prefer the middle ship for whatever game I'm playing. If I'm going against the big guy I try to shoot from a distance as I out heath him but he out guns me.

Tip #2 When in the game, just keep shooting LOL
Tip #3 Community Leaders are usually good.
Tip #4 Play with guests (not trying to be mean)
Tip #5 When you get in game and your scared your going to sink, then at the very top there is the timer and score thingy... Move your boat up there when everyone is shooting everyone else and hide yourself!! ( then ppl start calling you chicken but oh well like they were never chickens!!)

LOL Hope these work! ( Im pretty good at POTC myself so i have lots of secrets.)
