Name Change Has this happened to anyone else?

I was trying to login yesterday and it said unfortunatly i had to change my name. I have had my name i_am-the_walrus for about three months now and i don't get why now it is making me change my name. i went on monday night fine but then yesterday, tueday, it would not let me login without changing my name. I exited out before changing it.

If this has happened to anyone else, please tell. I really don't want to change my name if i don't have to.

It's done it to a few of us - if you'll notice YoyoFlamingo had to change his name to YoyoPinkLawnBird.

Happened to dubeskin too. He just changed his a little bit and then it was reaccepted. I can't find his original thread about though...

I know in most cases they are trying to eliminate any similarities to staff titles. Any titles that may be mistaken/used as a staff title is questionable to them. i.e. YoYoFlamingo had Flamingo in it. Anything with some sort of abbreviation and underscore or hyphen seems to be another flag. Anything that has WDW or DLR or something in the beginning is another. They are also asking those with "family" type titles to change them. i.e. CL_Mamacita had to change to CL_Cita because they didn't want the mama in it.

Yep! It happened to me, as evilqueenrocks said. I logged in one day and it said I couldn't keep Dubeskin. I still want to know why. But what's odder is that they let me have Dubeskinreal. I tried such things as Realdubeskin, Dubeskin1, stuff like that, but for some reason they accepted Dubeskinreal. And I don't believe there are any Community Leaders with such a name. Or staff members. But doesn't CL_Dubeskin or VMK_Dubeskin sound pretty cool :thumbup:?

Someone I knew tjmax had to change his name. Obviously whoever approved it didn't know it was a store- TJ Max. They had to change it once someone else realized I guess.

I think it's the underscores they don't like. Try just "Iamthewalrus" and see if that works. I don't think it's the fact that it's the Beatles, which by the way is a great band, but the underscores that they don't like. Also, are you actually allowed to have that many characters in your name?

A similar situation: When we created Vic's character, we both thought it would be very amusing to name her "Admiral Boom" (a character from Mary Poppins.) No matter how many variations I tried, they wouldn't accept that name.

Tell me: what in the known universe could possibly be objectionable with the name Admiral Boom?

In the end, we chose a name that honors her family's horse-racing heritage: Thoroughbred.

Oooo. Admiral Boom was a clever name. If that was still availible, I should love to have that. I think it was probably the "Boom" part of it. And possibly they didn't think of it at first. My guess though is that they didn't want any killing references.

They killed PhoneDave - I guess because of the Phone part. I might seem as if i am soliciting people to call me. They ended up allowing KingSuperDave I would rather have had phonedave - I am phonedave in at least a dozen other places, forums, and sites. And no, I am not asking people to call me - I work in Telecomm, hence the name

Probaly the intern who was checking names wasn't old enough to get the reference.... you must have caught the eye of a manager worried over possible lawsuits between flashbacks.

One of my good friends on VMK is named IAmtheWalrus and has been so for over a year. That's probably the reason your name was changed, it was pretty much the same.
Another friend had to fight to retain her name MaidenAmerica - her sister was able to keep her name MaidenDisney with no trouble.
I really don't understand how some names get allowed. I ran across a boy named SissyQueen and geeze was somebody asleep at the wheel when His name came through for approval!
