I just saw an HD video of it, as well as some video via IGN, and it's GORGEOUS! So freakin' sweet!
It's being called the 360's Killer App, and possibly the best FPS to date! If I was a regular consumer and I saw this next to a PS3... I'd have a hard decision to make... Heck I do right now!
Isn't it a 3rd person Shooter? most of the screens I see are in the third not first person shooter (FPS=First Persion Shooter)
but I'll agree it's got to be the best shooter graphics I've seen
I just saw the review on Xplay it got a five out of five, sounds like it's got some great online modes too definatly going to be bugging my Xbox360 friends into buying this so I can play some co-op with them
"We all have sparks, imagination! it's how our minds... create creations!"
I have it, it's fun. And it's a third-person shooter.
I'm tired because I was up all night playing it, so I'm not going to take the time to review it, but I honestly was disappointed. But it's sort of like when I was disappointed with the movie Cars. It was so incredibly great, but compared to the hype and quality of previous Pixar films, it was a bit unimpressive. Gears is great, but the media has given my tongue such a sweet taste that the final cake is a bit too bland.
That said, I do believe it is fun. It's no Halo-killer, though.
IMO I am really enjoying this game. Me and my friend played co-op for a little over two hours and really had a good time. I think the graphics are great, the story so far is pretty interesting, and the multiplayer is sweet! I get my own copy on Saturday (the big birthday you know!!) and then I'll be able to play on Live! and see how that goes.
So far I've been pretty impressed with the game. When Halo came out I was a Playstation2 guy so I can't really compare Gears to a game I have never really played. I will say that I think the game lives up to the hype. It is suppose to be Microsoft's Killer App until Halo 3 comes out. I don't think it was meant to replace the Halo franchise or "kill it", and blame should be put on the game media for pushing it that way.
Either way, I feel it is a solid game with a really cool concept of gameplay, which to me seems realistic. The game was intended to have a warlike feel to it and I think the presentation pulls this off spectacularly. And even though we only played for a couple of hours, there was plenty of moments where my friend and I literally jumped out of our chairs because of what was happening in the game. Bottom line....the game is FUN, and isn't that what games are meant to be about to begin wtih?
Just finished up the main campaign. It was a good game, really solid and polished in presentation, however I just wish the main story would've been a little longer, but in any case if you own a 360 or are thinking about getting one, this game is a fun and entertaining game. Mulitplayer is really fun as well!
