Wow. Never would have expected something like this...

Nintendo will be ordered to stop production and sales of the Wii if the suit goes through.

They'll also have to pay Interlink 3 times the assessed damages...

Very unfortunate, but ironic the same.

On the flipside, those of you that have one already may have a collector's item! Don't open it during Christmas!

That's nuts. Figures the one new console I really want to get and was trying to get it with my tax return $$$ might go off the market. I need to play the Lotto ASAP and win!
I really hope Nintendo can prove this wrong.

I dont think anything will come of this. I have to question the timing of the suit. I mean the Wii Remote was announced months ago. And I highly doubt Nintendo would be stupid enough to blatantly rip off someone else's idea in our "quick to sue" world.

wasn't this stuff designed and made in japan.. cause i would figure they would have looked for something similar in the us patents before developing anything...

then again... does this have stance...

I don't think the suit will go through, as far as I know, a MAJOR lawsuit like this never won.

                    But who knows?

Yeah exactly. And like I said, the Wii Remote had been announced and been in the news forever. Its not like Nintendo sprung this on the public at last minute. This is why I question the timing of the suit. I mean wouldnt they have seen the Wii Remote and been like "Wait a minute...that looks like our remote!" and filed suit then? I dont know...Something just doesnt seem right about all this. But I guess we'll see.

The complaint alleges that the trigger on the bottom of the Wii controller infringes on Interlink Patent No. 6,850,221 (Trigger Operated Electronic Device), which the company secured on February 1, 2005. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata first presented the Wii controller to the public not too long after that date, during the 2005 Tokyo Game Show.
Of course, triggered game devices have been around for quite a long time. Zapper light gun, anyone?

And like was said above, the WiiMote was reveled in 2005 ... and NOW they are suing??? Hmmm.

Picked up my 2nd WiiMote today ... so I've at least got 2.

And Nintendo won't stop production on the Wii if they lose. They will just come up with a different WiiMote.
