  • Wild for Mac

    Hey guys!

Does anybody know if the Wild expansion has been released for mac or if it is ever going to be released. I only have a mac and i already have RCT3 and Soaked. I dont want to have to go get a PC or download Q or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advanced.

    Re: Wild for Mac

I doubt it since Atari no longer supports RCT in any form anymore. I didn't even know it was available for the MAC. How does RCT3 and Soaked run on the MAC. Does it get slow and jerky the more stuff you add to your park? Does it have the hidden features, like the flying camera and Coaster Cam? Does it have anything that the PC version doesn't?

RCT3 and Soaked works fine on Mac, assuming the mac is made for gaming and not something else.

It just gets a little jerky if you run it for a really long time.

Really, Atari doesn't support RCT anymore? I didn't know that.

Yeah, they made a version for Mac i guess before they let go of it.

That is very interesting and I would gather that a gaming MAC is more expensive than one used for business purposes.

On the PC you need a very high end Graphics Card, a lot of memory and a very fast processor. But even then the more rides and scenery you add slows it down until it takes several seconds to react to any command and the game itself runs very slow and jerky.

Yes, Chris Sawyer who created all the RCT games and who's name is all over the credits for RCT3, sued Atari over royalties owed him for the tremendous sales figures, and Atari refused saying it didn't make that much, or some such bull. The most popular game and they just let it go rather than settle with Sawyer. He is burned out over this and has stated he is done with Roller Coaster Tycoon and will never do another.

It must have been just before everything fell apart. What a waste.

From what I understand (an old interview with Chris, from about 6 months ago), they settled out of court. He's not interested in the franchise, or the money anymore, he's done with RCT. Atari has the rights to sell the current packages, but not create any new ones.

Oh well, it's Chris' choice anyway. No loss. Frontier has Thrillville now, and it was popular last year, and the sequel just came out (on all major platforms, besides PS3). Conisdering that Atari is a penny stock, and the company is falling apart fast, it's good that Chris pulled out from them.

              Re: Wild for Mac

I had not heard that. But still, RCT was a great game and I had a lot of fun with it, especially RCT3. It's just too bad he can't create something even better for anther company, but I don't blame him for not being interested anymore.

Thrillsville is only for gaming platforms isn't it? I don't think it can do half of what RCT3 can/could do and I haven't seen a version for the PC. I had the PS2 for awhile and just gave it away after trying to play anything on it. Too many buttons and controls to memorize and to hard to save stuff to and then get it back, for me anyway.

Dude that sucks. I can't believe they had to go to court over that.
Oh well...there is still plenty to do in RCT 1-3. I still haven't played 2 so I wil be at it for a while.

Well since their probably not going to port Wild for Mac, I might just buy a PC and get RCT3 Platinum. Darn. I was hoping for it so much!!!

Nope, sequel is on PC as well. But yes, it isn't RCT by a longshot, but then it's not trying to be. It's a kids' game with loads of Minigames and Missions. Still a fun diversion.

                    Re: Wild for Mac

Yeah it's by far more kids oriented. It has no where near the capacity RCT does. I don't know how many different types of rides it has but it's probably really basic.

                    Two kinds of coasters maybe
                    Car Ride
                    Water Ride
                    I dont know...

See that's what's wrong with this game. They didn't learn from RCT3. I want a coaster game that has all the stuff that RCT3 did but not require a super computer to run smoothly. If I can't do my own Parks, then that's not for me.

How much horsepower does Thrillville take anyways? Cause I think it's really graphics intensive.
