Re: New Wii Channels, Mario Kart news, Monster Hunter 3 Wii
I'm starting to think Sonic was a last minute addition and thats what really caused the delay. I was holding out hope that Nintendo would come through and release their big 3 this year, but deep down I knew either "Super Mario Galaxy" or "Smash Bros" would get pushed back to 2008.
There's a few more games coming out this year that I want to get (Manhunt 2, Guitar Hero III, Mario) so I guess I could hold out on Brawl for a few more months.
Re: New Wii Channels, Mario Kart news, Monster Hunter 3 Wii
Nintendo's almost playing the same cards as they did with the N64 and the GC. Only now they can get away with releasing gobs of "fun" minigames to make money while the really good games keep getting delayed...
I'm starting to feel the same way I did when Ocarina of time kept getting pushed back.
Re: New Wii Channels, Mario Kart news, Monster Hunter 3 Wii
Monster Hunter 3... hrmn, no need to spend all that money on next generation when it's totally not needed for a game like that. Good move on their part.
The biggest news though that wasn't mentioned...
Super Smash Brothers Brawl has been officially delayed for Japan until late January. For North America it is now listed as TBA on the official Smash Brothers Dojo website and at the end of the new Sonic announcement trailer instead of December 3rd, which they had announced in the past.
Blow to Nintendo fans everywhere. I've been waiting all summer (which was horrible for Nintendo on the games front, no decent games the entire Spring/Summer... even could consider Fall too with the sole exception of Metroid Prime 3) for an A-grade first party Nintendo game... was looking forward to the two weeks separating Galaxy (which I'm kinda mixed about) and Brawl (super excited!).
makes since, I'm betting market penetration also plays a roll as well, there just isn't enough install base yet and if I'm not mistaken Capcom has been interviewed before showing annoyance and Sony's handling of things like the PSP as well
I read throught he Kotaku comments and I do get annoyed at some peoples ignorance levels on things (aka brand loyalty "how could capcom betray sony blah blah")
I've been watching Capcom's moves and I've noticed that if they think it will sell well in the states to offset dev they'll multiconsole it and do 360 (or even more likly if it's US focased they do 360 only)
the PS3 might not be installing well but the 360 is an outright joke in Japan were Monster Hunter is focused towards so it makes since to move it to a system with lower dev costs and high Japanese penetration rates (the US penetration rates probably didn't factor at all and is just a bonus)
it'll probably do well from a Japanese perspective but I don't know how well the shift will make it in America were the culture isn't as gaming aware
my bet is we'll see more weird product divisions along this line
