This is to discuss the most power hungry game ever!

Set in the year 2020, you play as Jake Dunn, a united states delta force operator. Dunn along with his squad mates including a fleet of navy aircraft carriers, have been sent to investigate an asteroid which has been uncovered by a team of U.S. archaeologists

The North Korean Government quickly seals off the island chain before the US forces arrive. On arrival, it's your job to force your way through literally 100's of korean militants with the goal of getting closer to the asteroid. Amid rising tensions between the US and North Koreans, the asteroid suddenly bursts open, revealing a massive 2km high alien ship. The ship generates an immense ice sphere, freezing a vast portion of the island and drastically altering the global weather system. The invasion of Earth has begun.
This game brings your computer to its knees, but is one amazing game, the waves are real, boats and objects rock and rise as waves hit them, and you can edit the wave size in the Cryengine 2 sandbox, the details in the faces, weapons, and items are incredible, and the forests and jungles almost seem alive, and the AI smartly reacts to your actions, this is the closest game to a Pixar film I've seen so far.Its been stated by the CEO of Crytek that this isn't even the full potential of the game engine, as home computer technology improves, they will be able to add more features (it already stresses out almost any computer on the market).

A word to those who want to buy a computer capable of Crysis, NEVER buy from the big name companies like Dell or HP. Go for Cyberpowerpc, cheapest you can get, plus they are fully customizable, I already bought two computer from them which are in great condition. Or if you know how to build a computer, go to Newegg for the cheapest parts you can get.

Graphics cards I would recommend for running Crysis

Nvidia 8800GT (best bang for the buck, with a good processor at about 2.2-4 ghz you will get stable on high settings, maybe some on very high)

8800GTS 640mb(very high), 8800GTX (very high, buttery smooth framerate)

ATI Radeon HD 3870(high/very high, depending on processor and RAM)

Far Cry was simply incredible - I expect Crysis to be the same. Unfortunately I don't have a PC anywhere even worth trying it with Maybe after the new year...

      Re: Crysis

Glad someone else here plays games that aren't all about cute console icos jumping on each other. I built my new computer specifically in anticipation of this game and it was so worth it.

I loved Far Cry and Crysis was definitely a lot like it, but until the later part of the game Crysis definitely felt a lot more freeform and fun. The regenerating health had a lot to do with it I think, since everything was really well balanced as far as challenge and the suit energy and such. I just didn't like the
      Spoiler
      alien part
since it was SO short and linear, and there wasn't a
      Spoiler
huge free-for-all between the three main forces
      like I'd really hoped for.

I got it running at 1280x720 at a solid 30-45 fps with mostly medium (and a few high) settings, but the motion blur would knock it down to 20ish so I just left that out. It seemed like a really cool effect, but a little overdone at times. My favorite new eye-implodingly awesome visual effect for DirectX10 was the sunshafts ("god-rays") effect. It's only part of Very High post-processing but hardly has an fps hit and makes anything looking towards the sun seem full of voluminous light and motion. It was also cool to see planes flying past and casting a shadow through smoke and the air and whatnot, and the physics effects on trees falling from gunfire and shock waves really did change the gameplay in the dense forest parts.

Can't wait for the sequel.

        Re: Crysis

I have two comuters currently running it, the first one, mine, has a AMD sckt 939 4200+ dual core processor, 3 gb ram, and a 512mb X1900XTX ATI video card, that can get up to about medium-high settings no AA, 1024X860 (i think) at about 40 fps, but any higher and the video card which sounds like a jet engine starting up (...I can hear it all the way from my room which is across the house..) shuts off my computer, the power supply is barely enough for it.

The other, which is my grandparents computer has a AMD 4600+ AM2 processor with a Nvidia 8800GTS 640mb and 2gb ram, I can get it stable 15-30 fps on very high settings with 8x AA and same resolution as my other monitor. Simply amazing.

But man, I read that even three 8800GTX nvidia cards together and a strong processor with 2gb ram can't keep it above 35 fps with everything turned on to the maximum...thats insane...(on anandtech.com).

            Re: Crysis

Nope. Its all from the game, the last one was taken in the CryENGINE 2 editor (which comes with Crysis) where you can make your own jungles, modify the terrain, change the wave size, etc.
