  • Would you buy a Wii from Ebay?

I've noticed that Wii prices have finally gone down, and was curious if you would trust an ebay purchase?

Right now the average is about $280.00 with shipping. That includes the 2 controllers and the sports game.

I haven't checked locally yet, because the stores are always out of the Wii.

    Any thoughts?

When it comes to buying gaming consoles for me, I usually just buy them in store.

Stores will usually offer some sort of in store replacement plan if the system goes bad within a year. etc etc etc.

Wii's don't break down like 360s so you could always go w/ eBay if you like. Good luck with your purchase

Stores are still out - darn it! Everywhere keeps telling me to watch for their ads. I really think it's ridiculous that Nintendo doesn't have them stocked. (I realize it's probably a marketing genius, but still.....)

Re: Would you buy a Wii from Ebay?

Dustin bought a lot on eBay once with an Xbox, PS2 and Game Cube.. the guy ripped him off and didn't add all of the stuff (a few games and cords) that he said he would. Then he deleted his account. :/

        Be VERY cautious.

To live would be an awfully big adventure.

I personally love ebay but wouldn't risk that amount of money or give out my credit card to an unknown member. I really don't think it's worth it.

Jen, you've just got to be persistant in going to the stores.

Check the store ads the day before they come out (so on Saturday). If Target has it in their ad (for example) they will have some in. Just get there EARLY, like an hour or more before the store opens and you should be able to get one.

What a total pain in the butt. But, I think you're all right, I'd be better off waiting and getting it from a store. Now, if I can just convince my kids that waiting is a good thing.

Re: Would you buy a Wii from Ebay?

We bought one for our boys for Christmas on ebay. We got it though from Best Buy's Outlet and it was used. We have had no problems with it at all. We did test it out before giving it to them. So if you go the way of ebay do what you should do with any auction and check feedbacks and see if they offer to give your money back if something isn't right with it. There are those that will do it. I think there is just a very small percentage of bad sellers out there compared to all the good ones. Which is why I say check feedback. We have been using ebay since 98-99 and we have had 1 problem in all this time with buying. I didn't get an item and since I used paypal got my money back. Which that would be the best way to deal with buying stuff like that I think incase of problems.
And now when it comes to the stores having them, my younger son's friend's mom called different places for awhile and finally one day got just the right person on the phone at a local Target here and he told her they would have some in that Sunday and if she really wanted it she needed to be there by before opening and no later then 9am cause they would be gone. She got one for her family. So maybe you will get lucky in that way. Good luck.

We finally got it! Toys R Us gets some in stock every Sunday. My husband hasn't been feeling well, so he skipped church and went and got one. We are waiting for my kids to clean their rooms before we present their surprise!

Tennis is the only game that I have played - and yes, it's fun. My husband went a little nuts and bought Mario Galaxy. I won't see my boys for the next 2 weeks.

And I bought our whole set from Ebay last October. Got the console, 2 controllers, 2 numchuck things, the sports pack game + 5other games that we haven't ever plugged into the thing. At our house, it's Tennis,Baseball,Bowling,Boxing or Guitar hero! Least it requires some bodily movement to play....SOME benefit!!

We're trying to pace ourselves. I do have the blockbuster by mail thing, which sends me 2 coupons a month to rent video games from the local store. I'm sure it will come in very handy.
