  • Dexter Season 4

I didn't see a thread for this up coming season on here and figured I would start one. This is one of my favorite shows and hate it when it ends because I am forced to wait 9 months for the next season. I am excited especially since Dexter is now a family man and having to maintain everything without being caught is going to be great. Anyone else like this show or is excited about this new season? I'll update this first post with new pictures and even will put up descriptions of each episode and what they were about as they air. I'll put it in a spoiler box so it doesn't ruin it for those who haven't seen that episode yet. Oh ya and this show is on Showtime for those that might be curious.

    Description Of Season 4:
Season 4 premieres Sunday September 27, 2009. John Lithgow has been confirmed to join the cast of Dexter for season 4. Lithgow will play Arthur Mitchell, an unassuming, mild-mannered suburbanite who has been living a dual life as one of America's most prolific and deadly serial killers. Dubbed the "Trinity Killer" because of his proclivity to kill in threes, he relocates to Miami after being tracked by retired FBI Special Agent Frank Lundy. Brought on to assist in the investigation of Miami's latest serial killer, Dexter Morgan becomes increasingly fascinated with "Trinity's" unique killing methods and his ability to evade capture for almost three decades.

    Episode Descriptions:
    Episode 1:
    Spoiler
    "Living The Dream"

Six months after the season finale, Dexter is now living with three kids and a wife in a new home. Along with his new son Harrison, the complexities of being a suburban father of three is making it difficult for Dexter to concentrate on his work. His lack of sleep leads him to let a murderer walk by bringing the wrong documents to court and puts a strain on his life outside of the office. Also, a now retired Agent Lundy has returned to finally capture the "Trinity Killer" who has arrived in Miami. The episode ends after Dexter commits a hasty kill, but crashes his car after falling asleep.

    Episode 2:
    Spoiler
    "Remains To Be Seen"

The pressures of fatherhood threaten to bring Dexter's world crashing down. In his carelessness, Dexter realizes that he's misplaced crucial evidence, something that could expose his dark side to the world. But his search will have to wait, as Miami Metro's two simultaneous murder cases continue to escalate. Their top priority is to solve 'The Vacation Murders', a series of robberies gone bad that threaten Miami's lucrative tourist industry. Quinn risks his job in "stealing" matters that include his new love of reporters. Debra's love life might be on the brink with Lundy back in town. However, Lundy is dealing with a bigger problem in the Trinity Killer, who unbeknownst to them is already stalking his next victim. Dexter has to weave a web of lies to extract himself from his duties, hoping to bury his secret before someone else finds it first.

    Episode 3:
    Spoiler
    "Blinded By The Light"

It's hard enough for Dexter to fake one-on-one relationships. Now he finds himself at the center of a bustling suburban community. When a local vandal begins stirring up trouble, the neighborhood becomes vigilant and wary, two things Dexter certainly doesn't need. His mobility is also hampered by Rita, who insists on driving him around after his incident. Dexter's not the only one feeling trapped - Debra is less than thrilled when Anton announces he's taken a local job to spend more time with her. Meanwhile, the Trinity Killer dispatches his next victim. Debra becomes drawn to Lundy's theories about Trinity, while Dexter finds himself in awe of Trinity's masterful killing technique. Despite their enthusiasm, LaGuerta threatens to shut down the investigation, instead focused on bringing the Vacation Murderers to justice.

I watched! I found it to be really creepy! Maybe because I usually watched the seasons on DVD or On Demand, not one at a time where I have no idea what is coming next! But that bath tub scene really kept me awake last night.

I am very excited about John Lithgow! I've always thought he was fantastic.

And that part where they redid the opening with him all tired and shirt stained was SO funny!

        Great start to the season!

As the parents of to two small boys (2 years and 7 months), we can totally relate... to being tired and sleepy, not the need to kill.

I thought it was weird as well on why he would get naked to kill someone. But since they made him out to be some werido it fit. And the redoing of the intro was great as well. The humanistic feel to Dexter is really shown as life has intruded on him.

Well, that and the fact that he is very good at not getting caught. Taking hsi clothes off also ensures that there is no blood evidence left on his clothes that can trace him back and he can also do his bathtub "ritual" without getting wet. Also, there would be no fibers left on the victim's body. I think it has a lot to do with forensics and the reasons he has been able to do this for so long without getting caught.

I loved the season opener this season!
John Lithgow's character is very creepy, and PERFECT for him! (Not that he is creepy, he just plays it so well).
I agree about the bathtub sceen, it was I think the most disturbing yet, (even more so that the Hotel bloodbath in the first season).
I guess it is a whole new writing team, so it will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out.

              Can't wait for more!!

The second episode was something else. I am surprised they gave up on the Gomez dead body story line so quick as I thought it would have lasted a little longer, but oh well. I really liked the human emotion they are giving Dexter especially when he is talking to his dad in the dining room scene. You really begin to see a new side of him that you haven't seen told in the past four seasons. I'm curious who is vandalizing the neighborhood for next weeks episode.

                  Re: Dexter Season 4

I found this last episode a bit slow and boring.
I am growing tired of the sleep deprived story line already. Get back to what Dexter does best. I miss his humour and wit!

I hope they are going to do something with the Quinn story line. Last year they started the whole Quinn is hiding something, and then nothing ever happened with that. I want to know whats up with him.
I like the Batista and Laguarda relationship, but I don't like how weird they were acting over it this week. I hope it was not just a quick relationship to go for the shock factor in the first episode.

Explicit, I LOVE the fact that you are recapping the episodes, nice to read what someone else picks up on, that I may have not picked up on.

Next week, we need a kill, I bet the Trinity killer will get his prey.

Samsma your right we do need a kill and I hope the next kill is Quinn lol. I never have cared for him when he first came on and now that he is going at Dexter I hope his end is near.

More and more I dislike Quinn. I'll say it again, I hope Dexter takes him out. As far as the episode 3, still somewhat slow, but at least we know next week Dexter should be back on the kill with that cop lady. Rita as well as her daughter are annoying as well. Well I never cared for Rita in the first place as she was always a boring character IMO. Anyway, what did everyone else think about this weeks show?

I completly agree with you Explicit! Quinn needs to be taken care of.
I think Rita and Aster are being too hard on Dexter, they are a newly formed family and both are too demanding.
I like the Laguarda and Angel relationship, but they need to go public, the sneaking around is getting old.

The funniest part of the episode was Vince Masuka's ride when he took Dexter home! The pimped out truck and country music!
So out of the character they had made hime seem to be in previous shows. I like that they are incorperating him into the show more.

Yeah, still pretty slow this season, I hope it gets a bit darker, this season has not left me desperate for the next episode yet, and I miss that.

Explicit, you must be watching on Showtime.
I get the show on Movie Central (in Canada) and we don't get the preview to the next episode here. I am looking forward to next week now, knowing a kill is in the future!

I kind of feel the Laguarda and Angel storyline is out of place. I hope something major happens with it, but as of now I'm very iffy on it.

Masuka acting like a cowboy was great. He even had the accent down too. I've always liked him as a character because he makes these lued comments that crack me up.

And yes Samsma I watch it on Showtime. I'll look around for next weeks previews and put them up as updates to the first posts for yourself and for those who don't catch it on Showtime. Hopefully I can find them.

                              That would be great, thanks!

I am really surprised that so few people are posting in this thread, even Ellen Degeneres was talking about her love and addiction to Dexter. (She has Jimmy Smits on today).
We heard about Dexter from our cable guy about a year ago, and we bought the first season on blu ray to see if it was as good as he said. Well, that weekend we finished the whole season, and ran back to Best Buy for season 2.
We were instantly addicted, and had to wait for the third season to be released, since we had just missed the end of televised episodes.
Now I will never miss one, and have the PVR set for all things Dexter that may pop up on the TV.
I am sure there are many more Dexter fans on the board, since it is such a great show!

We had tried to watch episodes online before on showtime, but it would not play and we got the message that said it was unavailable in our geographic region, so I had never tried the previews figuring the same result. But they work!!!! Hooray!

                                        deb - anton & lundy + harry's old informants
                                        batista & laguerta
                                        quinn & reporter christine hill
masuka & his really big truck

I actually like some of the story lines, well except for the astor one and well Rita has always been annoying for me. The Batista & Lauguerta story line is weird and I hope something happens to have it as a use to the show. The Masuka part IMO adds to his already querky self. I was dying laughing at the scene when I first saw it. As long as everything ties in near the end I'll be happy.
