  • Don't "Lie To Me" - I Know It's A Really Good Show!

If there was an earlier thread on this, I could not find it.

We're in the second season, and it looks like it's only going to get better.

I love this show. No lie!

I've caught it off and on... it conflicts with some of my "core" shows so that is part of the problem. There are members of the intelligence community that are trained "human lie detectors"... so the premise is at least accurate.

I believe that there are full episodes on fox.com, and perhaps hulu as well.

The season premiere episode with the lady with multiple personality disorder was especially well written and performed.

I wonder if after watching the show, some wives are trying out the techniques on their husbands...or parents on children...Not yet at our house, anyway...

I think this could lead to a good party-type interactive game somewhere down the line...

Showing some love to Mr. Orange!

Okay, seriously, the 2nd season is off to a great start! I love the chemistry with all the main characters and I'm glad to see the interaction with the main guy (Tim Roth) and his daughter. He may be a "lie detector" but showing his family life and his struggles makes him a bit more likeable and human.

I wonder how many spouses have started trying to use these techniques on their "significant others".

Do you guys see the makings for a rather unique interactive party game here?

I do watch the show and it took be a while to figure out what I thought was wrong with it.

The basic idea is fine, that some people can tell if someone is lying better than a machine. However, The main characters go beyond their job descriptions and take the time and energy to find out why the person is lying. (i.e. to solve the mystery). Sometime this make sense to do all this extra work, other time no so much. Many times to solve the case makes the people who hired them upset and mad.

I do not think that a real company would stay in business very long if they kept upsetting their clients so much.

This Monday's episode is another one that focuses on Lightman's relationship with his daughter Emily. Going to be good.

I haven't watched last Monday's show yet. It's on my DVR to-do list.

As for Lightman and his daughter, I can see where they'd have to have some kind of agreement that she gets to keep some things secret, even though he can most likely read her.
