  • Star Wars - ON HOLD

Should we be shocked? Announced 5 years ago by George Lucas, it seemed to come to a reality once a casting call started to happen last summer. Well, now comes official word that it's on hold, once again. Who wants to watch a the show anyway that will not star Darth Vader, Palpatine, or any Jedi characters of the films, as stated by the creator himself.

With no script (guess he's been drinking a lot of wine all this time at his ranch), and budget woes. What? Lucas can't afford a TV show? (Stop eating) Let's be honest here, he's lost ideas for the show. He even admitted to making up 70% of the film episodes 1-3 while making them, and look how they turned up. Gave us Jar Jar and have become late night matinees on TV. Steven Spielberg was the one who came up with the climatic end in episode 3, and that's not saying much either!

I wonder if this latest stall is due to Indy 5?

I would watch a Star Wars series without Vader, Palpatine or any Jedi from the films.

After all, it's a universe, not a Vaderverse or Jediverse.

It would be interesting if the TV show was about Boba Fett, as some rumours have suggested.

Agreed. A show within the Star Wars "universe" could theoretically be successful without any of the movie characters since the universe itself is so interesting. However, the fact that Lucas doesn't even have a script yet, combined with the horrible writing of the prequels (shudder) isn't giving me that much hope for a successful show. He needs to fully flesh out a story before he starts going forward trying to put a tv series together...

Getting technical, there's only SEVEN movies with the moniker of Star Wars that hit the theaters, one of which wasn't even intended on going theatrical (Clone Wars).

So... Six movies is still accurate in that sense.

Ewok movies are spin-offs and part of the galaxy but are not "Star Wars" movies. No where in the title does it say Star Wars.

The Holiday Special was a television special, not a movie.

Sigh, yes... quite "special". I can't get myself to watch it a second time.
