  • Boy Meets World sequel in the works

It was a rumour but now starting to get confirmed, Girl Meets World will be the sequel to the hit late-'90's show Boy Meets World.

    Some info from Coming Soon.

The new show is said to find Cory as a seventh grade history teacher, echoing qualities of William Daniels' Mr. Feeny on the original show. Married to Topanga, the pair have a 14-year-old Son, Elliot and a 13-year-old daughter, Riley Matthews. The latter part is the series' central protagonist and is now being cast with the following character description:

"Indelible personality. An adorable girl on the cusp of whatever comes next in life, and wanting to rush into it head first. She is fiercely loyal to her friends, and spends most of her time juggling the obstacles that life throws her way... There is no obstacle in this girl's world that can dampen her bright spirit and eternal optimism."
Both Ben Savage and Dainelle Fishel have signed on to reprise their roles.

I loved that show, and I would really love to see a sequel. I tease my grandson, who also liked to watch the program, in it's many reruns. If he ever gets married and has a daughter, he needs to name her Topanga.

May it not turn into soap opera garbage like the last season or two of Boy Meets World did.

Hope they can get Will Fridel for guest spots at least (plus an odd Thundercats reference )

My only question is why are they putting this on The Disney Channel, seems like it would be better suited for ABC Family if I'm being honest. The fact they are putting it on Disney Channel has me worried that they are going to try and make it the next Hannah Montana.

The original was a fun show, but it did deal with some more teenage issues (which is why it was so popular among teenagers). I don't want it to go the route of something like "Secret Life" but something in-between "Disney Channel" and that would be the way to go IMO.

I was hoping it was going to be an ABC thing myself.
