I also watch that show, it's on the food network. Very entertaining, but like Barry said, too many repeats.

            Re: Hell's Kitchen

Saw it last night... I guess I'm more into the actual cooking, but thought
that the contestants on Top Chef were far superior. And the food that they
produced pretty standard (nothing to get excited about). Finally, becoming a chef
at Red Rock is not something that would appeal to me at all.

The Food Network show is slightly different since it's looking for the next Food
Network star, not necessarily the best chef.

Good point. But from what I saw, the Next Food Network Star contestants looked more like chefs than those on Hell's Kitchen.
That was wonderful! Bravo! I loved that! Ah, that was great! Well, it was pretty good. Well, it wasn't bad. Uh, there were parts of it that weren't very good though. It could have been a lot better. I didn't really like it. It was pretty terrible. It was bad. It was awful! It was terrible! Take 'em away! Boo! Boo!

                Re: Hell's Kitchen

Having watched both shows I was struck last night by how much better the quality of contestants are on Top Chef as compared to Hell's Kitchen. I do think Hell's Kitchen is more animated and lively, but I like both shows. I couldn't believe how backstabing folks seemed ALREADY last night on Hell's Kitchen. I'm glad the gal from Waffle House didn't get picked for the bottom two in spite of (what looked like) all the other women suggesting she had no business there because of that fact. She was the only one that got the eggs cooked, seemed like she helped save their collective butts.

I can't believe that I missed it. I'm usually right on top of Hell's Kitchen coming back on. But I saw that they will be showing last night's episode before the new episode next monday.

I love Gordon Ramsey he is so in you face and seeing the reaction of the chef's crack me up, it's like they have never had anyone in their face and they work in the cooking industry.

                  Can't wait till next week!!!!

                      Re: Hell's Kitchen

I just watched it, and I have to say, I was not impressed. Sure, it's fun to see people get yelled at, but is it their first day in a kitchen?

As others have mentioned, Top Chef buries this show. The Chefs at Top Chef have skills, and were more fun to watch then this batch of emotionally unstable weirdos.

Also, being a foodie, I enjoyed Top Chef because you could learn so much about the culinary arts. On HC, you learn nothing, possibly because the contestants don't know anything. The show is also shot and edited to be more of a reality show (crying, complaining, cat fights, etc.) rather then as a talent showcase. I really loved Top Chef, and just seeing all the cool stuff they could do. I was disappointed that you don't learn anything about cooking with HC.

It will be interesting to watch, but so far it's not up their too high.

                        Re: Hell's Kitchen

One more thing, did you notice the wireless earpiece that the Chef wore? I guess the producers feed him info during the taping of the show, so he knows who to yell at. You could see it in his left ear, and a few times he was fussing with his ear, it was probably annoying him.

                            Re: Hell's Kitchen

Top Chef and Hell's Kitchen are two totally different animals -Top Chef, your right - they are people who can actually cook - no real dramatics by any Top Chef person in charge - but the challenges are fun to watch - I like watching this show to see how they put together a meal with just about anything - that is talent

Hell's Kitchen is like boot camp - I look at Chef Ramsey like a Drill Sergeant - he breaks them down to get them to rise up - but he's like this in his UK shows too - he figures that you already understand the workings of a kitchen and can make a simple appetizer. It's interesting to see how much stress these people put themselves under, yeah it's Chef Ramsey for most of it - but the contestants know basically what to do but Chef Ramsey makes them doubt themselves so much

                            I like both shows

I had totally forgotten about this show! I am glad I saw the commercial at the last minute or I would have missed it. It looks like it will be good. I hope that poor Asian man doesn't last long though, mostly cause I am not sure he can take it. I feel bad for him.

And I agree Max, Top Chef is better but they are so different it's hard to compare them.

I'm not addicted, but I do like this show. Why do they bleep Gordon when we know what he is saying?

I'm glad that Joanna and Tiffany were both nominated to go home. They were both a big part of the reason that the red team couldn't get it together. Tiffany got her comeuppance for being such a snob to Julia because she worked in a waffle house. Hey at least she can cook an egg. Sheesh.

This is the third season of the show, so what's with all the tears? Give me a f&%#*en break.

I was wondering the same thing. American Idol is the only one I can think of. But Survivor, Top Chef, America's Next Top Model, Project Runway, etc all do it the same night.

No, not even close. Top Chef is interesting to watch to see the talent of true culinary arts. Hell's Kitchen is interesting to watch because it's like a train wreck.

I do think Hell's Kitchen gets better throughout the season. Like someone else said- it's like boot camp. He tears them down in the beginning but it's nice to watch as they get built back up as the season progresses.

But yeah, Top Chef is WAAAAAAAAY classier.
