  • Live From Micechat...It's Saturday Night!

    Any SNL fans here?

I watched the season premiere up until Weekend Update before I went to bed.

Have to say I felt kind of meh about it.

Though I loved the SNL Digital Short:

I've pretty much given up on this show. I am sad about it.

For me it just hasen't been worth watching since the early 80's anyway.

The Peyton Manning episode was absolutely hysterical - But, that was one show in I don't know how many years.

Usually there's one skit per episode that's absolutely hilarious.

More often than not - it's one of the digital shorts.
"But every night, when it gets dark
          and the stars come out,
I'll look up on her behalf.
I'll look up in the sky and think of you."

The should cut the show by 30 minutes. Nothing good ever happens after Weekend Update.

That was a good short but not as good as Justin Timberlake's *ick in box.

                And I still enjoy SNL.

I still enjoy SNL, but I tend to not watch it unless I think the host will be good, and I didn't give a crap about James Lebron or whatever his name is.

Edited to add: Adam Levine is sex on a stick. And I love that Jake Gyllenhaal made a little guest appearance in the video.

Saturday night live has never been as good as it was in the old days when gilda Radner was alive, it was awsome, father guido, jane curtain, john balushi. I miss them a lot.

I love 80's & 90's SNL. To Eddie Murphy,Chris Farley, Adam Sandler (directly thinking of Opera Man), Dana Carvey, & far to Will Ferrell.

I'm excited about Seth Rogen this week, and also Spoon as the musical guest.

I think Seth will be pretty funny especially since he's worked with a few members of the cast in his movies.

I thought about this thread at one point today and felt I should have added Mike Myers. I liked Wayne's World. But I like his after leaving SNL work more. Like Austin Powers and voicing Shrek.

Jonah Hill (!!!!) is hosting November 17th!

... I'm sorry when I saw "40 Year Old Virgin" and he was the little eBay guy, been a big fan since. Only reason to see "Evan Almighty."

*BITCHING ALERT* **SNL isn't really a tv priority anymore like it used to be in the mid to late nineties.** Is SNL "Superbad Happy Fun Time Hour" now? I'm not complaining about it though.

Re: Live From Micechat...It's Saturday Night!

Here's what I remember of the SNL from the 1990s:
-I couldn't watch it at my house.
-I'd go to my best friend's house, who lived in the Valley and I lived in the IE, we'd decide "we're going to watch SNL!" We'd get drunk (at 13-22), smoke ciggarettes, sometimes do other stuff while her mom was asleep (she went to sleep around 9:30-10 every night) and then in a stupor realize "crap, we missed it!" And if we did watch it we were too out of it, or in my case sleepy, to get the jokes. NoW I can actually stay up to watch the show.
Plus... I never found Chris Farley or Dana Carvey funny.

I am with you. The younger folks around here can't really know what a revolutionary kind of show this was when it first came on the air. Talk about your must-see TV! It was that for me through the early 80's.

Both John Belushi and Gilda Radnor were comic geniuses.

There have been some others along the way in 32 years, like Mike Myers, but few that could measure up to the original cast especially given the trails they were blazing for those coming behind them.
