Why isn't there a Mickey's Halloween TV Special every year?

I love that every Christmas/December we get our TV special but I would love to see a Halloween special on TV around October 31st on ABC.

What do you think?

Because Disney is cheap.

No... it's because Halloween falls on a Wednesday and there is no way ABC is going to bump new episodes of Pushing Daisies & Private Practice. Putting brand new episodes of popular new shows is just a much better decision for ABC than bumping original programming for a TV Special will likely appeal mostly to Disney fanatics. DC will be running Halloween Month all month (culminating in a Halloween viewing of Haunted Mansion). And of course, ABCFamily will be airing their annual 13 days of Halloween specials. But this has nothing to do with cheapness, but rather showing what people are going to watch and not interrupting the schedule.

I remember all the vintage cartoon special that would air on the disney channel around halloween time! It was the greatest along with the Osmonds in Disneyland celebrating the opening of the Haunted Mansion

This is about why Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween is not on TV? Well when I was young, Disney used to have specials for Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, and sometimes other holiday like Halloween.

Disney used to do other holiday specials. My mom used to record a lot off of TV. I have Disney Valentine tape for crying out loud! It would be nice to see more done with Halloween but I don't see there being as much of a demand with it anytime soon. It is becoming more of a commerical holiday, but nothing like Christmas.

And with that.. I'll be visiting FL for MNSSHP again this year.

First of all, what does HSM have anything to do with Halloween programming? Ignoring the fact HSM debuted late January and HSM2 debuted late August (neither near any holiday that would get a TV special), DC is airing Halloween programming all month. So your argument neither makes sense nor is relevant.

The Charlie Brown/Pooh hour usually falls on whatever Saturday happens to be closest to the holiday. So why doesn't Disney do the same thing with a WDW Halloween Special? They already have those two animated specials. There is no reason not to air them on a Saturday... where even if they do crappy, it wouldn't take away from their schedule and wouldn't cost them anything. So airing a special (which is essentially free) that will get 5 million viewers is no different then airing a repeat of Grey's Anatomy that will get 5 million viewers. However, should Disney really spend all the money to make some WDW Halloween Special that will only get 5 million viewers? And would it really make sense to air a WDW holiday special not on the holiday (Christmas special tapes early, but airs on the holiday). Unlike the Christmas and Easter holidays, there really isn't much demand for a WDW Halloween special (before this thread, I don't think I've heard anyone even mention wanting one). So at least to me, this has nothing to do with Disney being cheap, but rather Disney making the best possible decision taking the schedule & demand into account. Just my opinion though.
