  • Jack Benny Hour (1965)

Quite a while ago, I happened upon a video of Walt Disney and the greatest comedian in history (imho) Jack Benny. (many of you no doubt have seen this) I was forever curious as to it's origin, then I just recently discovered the source of it's origin.

    http://www.archive.org/details/JackB...ourLongSpecial

The segment begins at 30:38 into the show. (about halfway in) I just let it load on pause and fast forwarded to it. I've gotten the segment already an video a while ago. It's just nice to know now where it came from.

P.S. I'm a huge Jack Benny fan!!! (Oh, now... cut that out!)

If you had done a "Search" of MiceChat...you might not have had to wait so long for your answer as to where it came from.

Yes, you're right, I did not "search" for this "video" here because I figures that, just as you have illustrated, I would have only seen the "YouTube" vidoe you have linked to in these threads. But NOT the "ENTIRE" 1-hour show that I posted a link to. I figured that most us "mouse-maniacs" and fans of Walt would have been steered to this.

Again, thanks for pointing out the other threads here, and like others have expressed, they should release these specials on dvd also, I have many Jack Benny shows on dvd. My folks listened to his radio show when they were kids, back when all there was on TV was news. )

That was a great show, thanks! I haven't seen it, which is rare as I've been called the queen of the boob tube in my family. Great to see Elke Sommer again, haha.

The YouTube video has been removed, so anyone who would like to see it again, check out the archive.org link above.

Really? What's it called? I'd love to pick it up.

Understand. But FYI...you will find the same link you posted to the entire episode in the first MiceChat thread I gave above:

              http://www.micechat.com/forums/showt...nny-71679.html

...as well as others mentioning the origin and that they had already purchased the DVD that contained the entire show.

I don't know if the DVD is currently available anywhere today, but if it was widely closed-out at 99 Cent stores...it could be understandable if it was currently off the market today (except second-hand, of course).

Also as I mentioned in the other thread...the Walt segment was actually filmed in Color, even though it only aired in Black & White. I have a Color copy of it somewhere and I'm still hoping to rip it and post it next time I come across it.

The dvd is part of a "Jack Benny Show" collection. It's packaged in just a cardboard envelope (Not a typical dvd plastic case) it has the listing on the back with Walt Disney as a special guest. I've seen it at the 99 cent store many times.

I'll have to keep my eyes open, I love collecting these old shows, I've gotten a few early Dick Van Dyke shows in the discount bin at like Walmart. Thanks for the info.
