Registrations

All new user registrations require email verification. Please make sure that micechat.com is not blocked by your SPAM filter. Approvals are done at least once per day, but no approval will be given for accounts that have not verified their email address. No account created using anonymous services will be approved. These include proxies, VPN's, and Tor exit nodes. IP address reputations are also checked. Any IP address with questionable reputation will be banned and the registration denied.

  • Does Disney even patrol this board?

    It seems as though there is a general consensus on what Disney should do with their parks (ditch Avatarland, add Beastly Kingdom, expand Pixar's land, add Star Wars mini-park, re-do Imaginations, etc.), and yet we keep getting attractions that no one is too excited about.

    Where is Disney getting the research that makes them invest in these poorly-received additions and ignore what fans (who are willing to shell out money repeatedly) really want?

    Disney fantsites like this, tend to be filled with superfans, but not the bulk of Disney consumers. On these sites you tend to find extreme views rather than what is best for the company and consumers.

    Disney marketing does look at fansites, but that doesn't mean they read every post or thread. Often there are posters who think and sometimes demand that their view be taken into consideration, that is usually driven by their ego.

      Essentially a similar place, and with similar methods and mindset, that Coca-Cola got its research telling it New Coke would be a success.

      Disney spends enormously on research, but at the end of the day listens most of all to its own groupthink.

              Disney lawyers probably forbid them from getting their ideas from fansites. If Disney saw an idea and implemented it then the poster who thought of the idea would try to sue them for $ or whatever.

                Like virtually all companies that deal in IPs (intellectual properties), Disney's standard procedures are to return unread any unsolicited ideas sent to them and to ignore unsolicited ideas on social media. The exception is when ideas are pitched to them via legit representation (e.g. licensed talent agents).

                Disney does watch social media as part of its marketing & PR, but not to get story ideas, theme park concepts and the like.
