While Pixar did win best animated short(Bao) and Marvel won a couple of technical awards (for Black Panther), Disney's 6 consecutive year streak for animation feature wins, came to an end. As Sony's* Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse won.
This is the 1st time since 2011, when neither WDAS or Pixar won Best Animated Feature. The last non-Disney movie to win was Rango.
Disney's Streak by Winning Years:
2013: Brave-Pixar
2014: Frozen-WDAS
2015: Big Hero 6-WDAS
2016: Inside Out-Pixar
2017: Zootopia-WDAS
2018: Coco-Pixar
Somewhere, Amy Pascal is gloating about this.
*While Disney owns the rights to Spider-Man, the film rights are owned by Sony. Whether Disney had any indirect influence for the movie or made any money indirectly is unknown, but unlikely.
