  • "Plussing" beyond Disneyland

Walt Disney said that one of his most favorite aspects of Disneyland is the fact that it is a perpetual work-in-progress and that improvements can continually be made to the various attractions while the same cannot be said of the film business and of most of the rest of the entertainment industry.

Aside from theatrical reissues of movies, like "Star Wars" and "Fantasia," usually no improvements are ever made to such works after their initial releases. Disney+, and the need for the service to offer a robust and compelling array of content, may, however, justify the same kind of "plussing" that Mr. Disney said he appreciated Disneyland allowing.

Are you suggesting that Disney may edit/add to original features?

Yes, "Star Wars" is a good example. Special Editions of Episodes IV-VI were released to theatres in advance of the premieres of Episodes I-III, but all of them should be redone for a variety of reasons, including the fact that so much of the C.G.I. looks bad by today's standards.

It's been done with The Lion King. Disney did the correct way by keeping the original Theatrical version along with the Special Edition. Of course, Iger could be thinking of running the whole catalog of Disney animated movies the plussing treatment.
I am old. But still love Disneyland.

Disney should also retitle many of these movies and television shows.

Putting the entire library in one place could be either a very good thing or a very bad thing for the goodwill associated with the Disney trademark.

The sheer amount of junk that has carried the Disney name in the decades since Disney, himself, died is embarrassing.

Some of the stuff would be salvageable if Disney cared enough to correct the problems and/or make the improvements needed.

Matthew Ball tweeted about something similar Netflix and some other content creators have been doing.

I just can't wait to get Disney+ so I can watch 'One of Our Dinosaurs is Missing' 'The North Avenue Irregulars' and 'The Devil and Mex Devlin.' Oh, and 'The Apple Dumpling Gang.' In case anyone is wondering, 'yes' - the 'Sarcas-O-Meter' is on. Thank you for your cooperation.
