  • Finding Nemo 2??

    Saw this:

I don't like the direction Pixar is taking lately. Going from a studio that wouldn't do a sequel except in the most rare occasions to doing one too many sequels.....nope, not liking it at all. Leave the sequels to Dreamworks and other non-creative studios. Pixar is too good for this. Or they used to be.
"In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations, the new needs friends." - Anton Ego

I would tend to agree. The argument for sequels though would be it cost close to $200 million to make a Pixar movie. A couple of slam dunks like sequels to Monsters Inc. and Nemo would hopefully give Pixar some padding in the bank account to finance other, better, and more original projects. Hopefully.

Some movies like Toy Story...or Increables (especially this one) make sense and if you have a good story go for it...but Nemo ended like it needed to no reason to make more adventure UNLESS you want to make a ride based on one afterward the movie

Monster Inc prequel might be good...but after seeing Brave and Cars 2....Pixar has lost my respect I now believe only a handful of the people there are as great as I once though the entire company was

Really, I feel I sequel to Nemo is unneeded. The story does well enough as a stand alone. That said though, I would hope that if they feel they must make a sequel that it is a big budget feature and not the low budget direct to video crap that Disney has put out for ther other sequels like Lion King Two and the Aladdin follow ups.

The bold mine above. Until we've actually seen the finished products it'd be tough to decide whether or not they're better. 'Toy Story 2' was a far richer story and added fabulous characters to the TS world. 'Toy Story 3' provided closure for the series and over $1 billion at the box office alone.

My guess is a new take on 'Nemo's world rather than just picking things up a month later. Possibly with a deeper story and probably with terrific new characters. Andrew Stanton knows his territory.

Continuing stories with beloved characters got the movie industry going with serials. This format inspired George Lucas & Steven Spielberg to create Indiana Jones. Assuming everything as a "strict" sequel could've killed the prospect of Warner Bros. forging forward with Christopher Nolan's take on Batman after Tim Burton & Joel Schumacher had previously mined the character for example....

HELL NO! BAD IDEA! I am ok with sequels, but bad idea for this one. What the hell Nemo gets lost again! I really hope this idea goes away. The Incredibles I could have seen but Nemo is like Snow White both having a sequel would not have been good.

Agree to a point The Toy Stories worked well, but most should not. Pixar films like Nemo, Up, Wall*E, even Monsters don't belong in my opinion having sequels. Although t I am interested some what in the prequel of Monsters Inc. (Kind of Conflicted). I do over all agree with your view!

Saw this article posted on Sanity Australia's wall, 'Finding Nemo 2,' 'Toy Story 4' & 'Monsters Inc. 2' Plans In The Works For Pixar & Disney - International Business Times

Let's be honest, Nemo, yes, ended and concluded the story off, therefore not requiring a sequel. Toy Story 3, gave closure to the world of TS. Sure some people would like to see how Mike and Sulley met etc... so that warrants a new film, but after seeing Cars 2, which was average, and then Brave, which I was blown away, I think it's because I'm half Scottish and therefore a) can understand them better, and b) know of the story of the Wil of the Wisp.

I think it's a little odd that there's not even a release on either of Pixar's Facebooks or twitter accounts...

Didn't you all learn from Chicken Little? Everyone calm down. Don't believe everything you read. Nothing to see here now.

                          Re: Finding Nemo 2??

Yeah, until it's announced by Pixar, I would just cry foul. And for all those denouncing Pixar as becoming a sequel only studios...one only needs to look at their line up of movies to 2015 to see that's untrue.

Brave was just released, completely original story. I have yet to see it but will be by Friday. I'm more than excited, I've heard the movie is beautiful and moving.

Monster's University is up next in June 2013. This one is a prequel and along with TS2&3 (both better than the original, the 3rd being the best) and Cars 2 (never saw, I loved the first Cars movie and though it's story should stand alone and refused to stain the first movie by watching Cars 2) goes in the SMALL percentage of Pixar sequels. 4 movies out of 14 being sequels isn't bad...

After that, there's "The Good Dinosaur" and "Untitled Pixar Movire That Takes You Into The Mind" (working title), both original stories and both slated for 2014.

And finally, in 2015, a movie I'm REALLY excited for and looking forward to, "Dia de los Muertos". I LOVE this holiday and all the culture and tradition behind it and am SO looking forward to what Pixar does with this colorful and macabre holiday.
