Pixar Animation yanks director Bob Peterson off 'The Good Dinosaur' - latimes.com

LA Times moves stories behind the paywall quickly, so here's the more important elements for the moment:

Pixar Animation has removed the director of its 2014 film, "The Good Dinosaur," and not named a replacement, marking the fourth time in eight movies that the Emeryville studio has made a director change midstream....

Until a new director is named, Pixar is relying on a team of people to shepherd various sections of the movie, due in theaters in nine months. That group includes Pixar Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter, "Toy Story 3" director Lee Unkrich, "Brave" director Mark Andrews and the film's original co-director Peter Sohn (at Pixar, a co-director plays a deputy role to the director).

Thanks for that link. (As of this moment the story is still viewable in its entirety for free on the L.A. Times site.)

And the DisneyToonification of Pixar continues.

This all blew up earlier this week when Blue Sky Disney broke the news about Bob. Other sites picked it up and started contacting Pixar to find out if it was true. Turns out, it was!

Well I liked what I saw at the D23 panel.
I don't understand why someone could get removed from a film for being "too deeply involved"-especially an animated film.
I hope the picture doesn't get shelved and I hope it doesn't get re-imagined into a typical dinosaur film (i.e. herbivore vs carnivore fight for survival type thing).

It's a movie industry euphemism for "we fired him off the film because we didn't like what he was doing." The reason for the conflict could be creative or budgetary (or both), but is more often creative.

I really hope it isn't that. *crosses fingers*

According to this article, the movie's release date has been moved to November 25th, 2015, leaving Pixar without a movie in 2014 and making Inside Out the next Pixar release. I am so surprised that this is happening so close to the original release date...
