Re: So whatever happened to the new Haunted Mansion movie?
Was just thinking the same thing. It will be two years since the Comic Con reveal, but nothing has seemed to have been done since 2011. I was really excited for this version.
What also happened to the Jungle Cruise movie, or the Jon Faverau Magic Kingdom movies? Enterainment Weekly reported that The Lone Ranger was delayed again due to budget and the worry over that turd John Carter. I really hope John Carter hasn't destroyed the chances for so many great movies on the horizon.

I'd wait...Disney seems to only focus on movies coming out...that year
Meaning this year it was about John Carter...Brave...Wretch it Ralph
Next year Monsters Inc...Ironman 3..Thor 2....and what ever else they have cooking...but I HM will be coming out until....maybe 2014 at the earliestHappy Halloween!!!

Re: So whatever happened to the new Haunted Mansion movie?
Still in development. Early stages of pre-production, but no official announcements.
Remember, in Hollywood, projects will change on a dime, people will come and go on a given project, and stuff often goes through stop and start motions many times before you finally get things rolling and principal photography begins. Plus, some projects go through initial development, then things change, stuff is put on the back-burner, there are delays (for whatever reason), projects languish for years in "development hell," and then they finally get a greenlight years later. Or, they just die and never get made.
This one? Don't get yourself excited or make any plans just yet, but it might be coming around in a few years, minimum. As things develop, there'll be further announcements.

Re: So whatever happened to the new Haunted Mansion movie?
I was so excited when I heard that they were remaking this movie. The 2003 version was terrible, and HM is my favorite attraction, so I believe that it deserves a chance for a decent film! I have heard nothing of the new version. much to my dismay, but I hope they continue working on it so it doesnt sit on a shelf for too long!

"Putting on hold" is not a good sign. It allows for way too many revisions and re-writes, and the original concept, which looked pretty brilliant, could easily get lost. Let's hope not. Please consider the environment before printing useless emails

I think this on hold while they are negotiating Eddie Murphy's salary."Greetings, Starfighter! You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the Frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan Armada."

Re: So whatever happened to the new Haunted Mansion movie?
Guillermo Del Toro's Haunted Mansion is still in development according to various online info dating back to 2011 -
MTV News first heard about the project from the "Pacific Rim" director at the2010 San Diego Comic-Con (this is true & everyone raved about the Hatbox Ghost illustration( and he hasn't stopped gushing about it since..
"We're on the second draft of the screenplay," he said. "We have a huge show-and-tell series of boards. We have about 40 pieces of art."Fun fact about Del Toro: he's obsessed with Disneyland's The Haunted Mansion ride. It's to the point that he has been collecting vast amount of artifacts and memorabilia from the ride for the past 10 years, and is planning on using its little-known cult favorite character the Hat Box Ghost as his movie's villain. Therefore, pre-production for his take on "The Haunted Mansion" (let's pretend the Eddie Murphy version never happened) is a dream come true for the director. He said that he and his team have been in "fluid contact" with the Imagineers at Disney in order to make sure his movie is faithful to the mythology of the ride. Needless to say, it's been a slow process."We went through a lot of the original art for the design of the mansion, we went to the Disney archives and I really would have loved to have done a little bit of swindling, but I was being watched," del Toro said with a laugh. "We explored the mansion by foot at 5am in the morning. We took two hours, went behind the scenes. I went insane. It's one of the happiest days of my life."But he's not the only director in Hollywood trying his hand at a movie inspired by Disney's beloved themeparks! Jon Favreau. is said to be on pre-production on a flick based on Disney World's Magic Kingdom (Del Toro said he wouldn't be against trying to have some crossover between their films)."I told Jon that if he can use some of the stuff, and I can use some of his stuff, and make it a cohesive universe, that would be fantastic," he said.
I would <3 to see this film come out, but I respect the fact it needs to come out with the Walt Disney Co giving it 110% precise promotion (don't pull a John Carter on us) where its not competing with their in production blockbusters ....
