  • 'Tron: Legacy' sequel back on the Grid at Disney

The Hollywood Reporter has just posted a story that Disney has a 'Tron 3' script in-house and is actively seeking a deal with screenwriter Jesse Wigutow, who is also working on an adaptation of 'Peter and the Starcatchers', to rewrite it.Joseph Kosinski, the Director of 'Tron: Legacy', is still attached to direct the film. That film pulled in over $400 million at the box office.

I definitely want to see it happen but at $400 million in box-office revenue, why do they consider Tron:Legacy a financial loss? The popular rumor always seemed to be that there might not be another movie since the last one was "a loss." With numbers like that, I don't see a loss at all. Am I missing something?

Same here. I actually saw it in IMAX 3D the second time around. The single best movie experience of my life.

I hope so to, I enjoyed watching the film and I also enjoyed the music from the film so much, that I purchased the Tron Legacy soundtrack from Itunes.

I think Walt Disney Co Executives are finally realizing that TRON:Legacy was more of a financial hit (with merchandise selling strong) compared to these epic fails - John Carter (or Mars), Sorcerers Apprentice, Mars Needs Moms, Prince of Persia ...

Wow, Walt Disney Pictures sure released some stinkers (no wonder why the bought LucasFilms) ....

This x100000. They did such an outstanding job with Tron: Legacy's score. I've probably listened to it around thirty times now.

                              -
The films are just a feast for the eyes...and the two films both stand on their own. Both have a unique and amazing graphic design look that i find appealing and outright cool.

The stories are entertaining, and both have a lot of hidden meanings ( Legacy in particular ) that make them both more then just movies *about being trapped in a video game*.

I hope Tron 3 keeps in that spirit.
Oh...and i hope to hear Daft Punk return to do some more kick-butt musical scores for the new film !

Futurama has a TRON:Legacy joke: The world is ending and Leela regrets spending two hours of her life watching it. Fry replies that he'll go destroy all the known copies of it. "It'll take me a couple of hours, but I'll do it!"

I didn't like T:L as much as I did the original. Maybe #3 will be better.

There should be a sticky thread called "This Day in Disney History." The company has a long history and this would be a good way to acknowledge it. Walt was born 112 years ago; that's quite a chunk of American history and culture.

The original TRON will always be a classic in my book. I enjoyed TRON Legacy well enough, but it didn't have that wow factor that I got from the first film. I still enjoyed the movie(especially Daft Punks soundtrack). I just don't know if the 3rd movie will thrive without Jeff " the Dude" Bridges in it.

But I'm sure the writers will come up with some forced plot point that brings him back to life. (Kind of like Terminator 3, a movie that never needed to be made in the first place but came up with the whole "Judgement Day is inevitable" nonsense).

One of my favorite Futurama moments...

However I liked Tron Legacy, and it seemed to register well with the teenage boy crowd. Back in high school it seemed every dude on my cross country team loved Tron Legacy.

Besides, I think Tron Legacy was a much better film than Avatar, and years down the road people will still be talking about Tron.

Totally agreed. I'm sorry for those who are sour on it, but T:L was great. I loved it. In many ways I found it an improvement over a movie that I've had nothing but reverence for over the last 30 years.
