  • 'Brave's Brenda Chapman: first woman to win Animated Feature Oscar

Brenda Chapman, the original writer and director of Disney Pixar's 'Brave', received the Oscar for Best Animated Feature at last night's Academy Awards. In the twelve years of the category's existence Chapman became the first woman to receive the award. She and co-director Mark Andrews both appeared onstage together.

Andrews took over the film over two years ago when Chapman, then Pixar's first female feature director, was taken off the film. She then left to join Lucasfilm as a consultant and reportedly has rejoined DreamWorks Animation where she was one of the director's of the studio's first animated feature release, 'The Prince of Egypt'.
